Many people assign the popularity of the show to the fact that it brought a revolutionary aspect on the view of women, their bodies, pleasure and simply their lifestyle. Think about Samantha for instance. Her openly talking about her sex life is something that was not so common on TV back in the day. Imagine how women felt all over the world that something that many people wanted them to feel ashamed of, somehow turned out to be empowering all of a sudden.

If you think about Miranda, she was revolutionary as well. The aspect of the retro view on relationships was totally broken when her character entered the scene. Her character was clearly setting her boundaries and was open about her career driven mind, which, AGAIN was a shock to some. A woman not living to make babies while making her husband happy? WHAT?

After all this one may think that SATC entirely crushed women who want families, children, a wedding and that is basically their dream. But it was the opposite. In comes Charlotte York. Another type of woman who refuses to give in to some of the modern views and embraces her want for a family and finding true love. Here we can see again why SATC broke the world.

Instead of making a group of females who have the same dreams and aims they made four totally different characters. Instead of bringing each other down or belittling the others dreams, they lifted each other up and – at times- even realized that they were more similar than they thought.

The stereotype of women friendships is often screaming in our faces. Somehow – for whatever reason – it is believed that we talk behind the others back all the time and the friendship is non-existent if we don´t hate each other. Then this beautifully crafted friendship entered our TVs and showed how beautiful female friendships can actually be.

You thought I’m going to leave out Carrie? NOT A CHANCE IN H – for me Carrie was a realistic character. It is known to me that a lot of you dislike her but I think often it is because we can see parts of ourselves that we are not proud of, in her. People are usually such clever pretenders when it comes to giving advice to someone else, but come on, haven’t we all at some point begged someone to stay or remained with someone while weren’t treated right? I know. Yeah. That makes us human so it is okay.

If I think about What each SATC woman has taught us about love, so many things come to my mind that I had to write a whole post about it.
